Effective June 11, 2026
Hefty Search is built around one idea: your files are none of our business. This policy explains the small amount of data that is processed, and why.
All indexing, AI analysis, and search happens entirely on your device. Specifically:
When you activate Hefty Search with a license key, the app contacts Lemon Squeezy (our payment and licensing provider) to verify the key. This sends your license key and your Mac's name (e.g. "Akash's MacBook Pro", so you can recognize which of your devices use the license). The app periodically re-verifies the license the same way. No file contents, search activity, or other personal data is included.
If Hefty Search crashes, an automatic crash report is sent to Sentry, a crash-reporting service. Reports contain technical information only: the crash stack trace, app version, macOS version, and hardware model. They do not contain your files, file names, search queries, or any content from your library. We use these reports solely to find and fix bugs.
Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. When you buy Hefty Search, Lemon Squeezy processes your payment details and email address under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details so we can provide support; we never see your payment card information.
This website is a static site served via Cloudflare. It uses no analytics and sets no tracking cookies. The checkout overlay is provided by Lemon Squeezy and is governed by their privacy policy.
You can request a copy or deletion of the data associated with your purchase (your email address and order history) at any time by contacting us. Deleting crash report data can also be requested, though reports contain no information that identifies you personally.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
